Red Wings Rumblings
The Traverse City part of training camp is over, now things start to get a little more serious as the Red Wings prepare for preseason, and then regular season. The team announced on Sunday that they have trimmed the 2024 training camp roster by 11. Here are the players on their way out:
Landon Miller, Brayden Edwards, Chase Lefebvre, Charlie Paquette and Borya Valis, and defensemen Bauer Dumanski, Marcus Kearsey, Zackary Sandhu, Blake Smith, Josh Van Mulligen and Matthew Virgilio.
The Red Wings have.. Well, a lot of goalies. Probably too many? No matter, what really matters is that Ville Husso is reportedly “110%” and ready to compete. It sounds like the season will start with three goalies in rotation, unless we get an injury between now and then. We’re probably looking at a rotation of Talbot-Lyon-Husso. I doubt Jack Campbell makes the final roster, I would expect he spends time in Grand Rapids.
Roster Prediction from Bultman
Max Bultman over at The Athletic gives his projected roster for 2024 in this article. He has a similar three-way rotation at goalie that I predicted, but here’s how he has it shaking out at forward and defense:
DeBrincat-Larkin-Raymond
Tarasenko-Compher-Kane
Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer
Berggren-Veleno-Motte
Chiarot-Seider
Edvinsson-Petry
Maatta-Gustafsson
Johansson-Holl
Not Red Wings related, but how about the Lions and Tigers? Big weekends for both of them, especially the latter. Could we finally see the Lions, Tigers, and Wings playing all at the same time again?!
