Red Wings Rumblings
It’s game day for the Detroit Red Wings. After their first win of the 2024-2025 NHL regular season Saturday night, the Wings are at Madison Square Garden for a match with the New York Rangers. Detroit has been doing some roster shuffling, which WIIM reported yesterday, other than that there’s not much news on the wire.
Meanwhile in Grand Rapids, the Griffins opened their regular season 1-1-0 over the weekend. The win included a shutout performance from Sebastian Cossa. The Griffins followed up the win with a loss on Saturday.

Here’s an article from The Candaian Press with quotes from NHL great Mark Messier that suggests changes in the broadcast structure. Could be just a Canada thing, but I also believe the NHL’s recent deal with Amazon suggests there will be a lot more hockey in the streaming world soon. Probably a good thing considering Bally Sports Detroit is a dumpster fire from the business side.
