Injury news on Detroit Red Wings’ Anthony Mantha seems bad. Here’s why – Freep

DOOOOOOM!

“When you’ve got an upper body, you can keep your legs,” Blashill said. “Anthony won’t be able to do that. It’ll be a process once he gets himself to where he’s closer to being healed where he can get going a little bit.”

That’s it; that’s the reason it seems bad. In terms of what this means, Blashill also said that the Zadina call up was 100% day-to-day and that what they’re focusing on it’s what’s best for Zadina in the long-term. Of course what that means is that they’re almost certainly going to make sure that Zadina doesn’t exceed the nine game limit that would mean his contract couldn’t slide this year and if Mantha is out longer than that, it’s likely Svechnikov gets the next call.

Ex-Red Wings D Colaiacovo on Babcock: Guys hated him in Detroit, tried to get him fired every year -ClickonDetroit

Carlo Colaiacovo is in a unique situation of having been in the Detroit room, but he’s also a guy trying to make a name for himself as an NHL talking head. None of this is really surprising, but grain-of-salt it yourself. If you’ll remember where this fits into the timeline, this is the season that Ken Holland basically had to threaten to get Pavel Datsyuk to play one more year. I suppose I believe this story, but I haven’t really finished processing what it does to my view of the past.

A former assistant under Babcock, previous Carolina head coach, and current Calgary head coach is currently under fire for what is a strongly-corroborated story about racist abuse. The Flames are investigating and there were conflicting rumors yesterday about whether Peters was already fired or just yet-to-be-fired, but this paints a real bad story about Peters and sheds more light on how ugly things can still be within hockey culture.

Michal Jordan accuses Bill Peters of physical mistreatment during Peters’ time as Hurricanes coach – Canes Country

And another former player of Peters alleges physical abuse.
