Red Wings Rumblings
The season opener tomorrow at LCA has a new start time. Puck drop is now slated for 8 PM ET. The change was due to the Detroit Tigers pushing their postseason series with Cleveland to at least game four. So if you’re going downtown tomorrow for the game, give yourself extra time. It’s gonna be WILD.
As expected, forward Austin Watson cleared waivers and is now headed to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde said this was the plan just a few days ago. Grand Rapids opens the AHL regular season on Friday at Van Andel Arena against Milwaukee.
As it turns out, the Red Wings wanted 2024 first-rounder Michael Brandsegg-Nygard to stay in North America and play in the AHL, but MBN made the decision to go back to the SHL. There’s been some noise surrounding this, and I’m choosing to ignore it. Yzerman has never been one to rush prospects. MBN will be in North America next season, let’s not worry too much about it right now.
