Forgive the sloppy insert this morning. But these guys are right – getting Compher back would be huge, especially with Larkin’s timetable for return being as uncertain as it is (although seeing him skate yesterday was a good sign). No team in the NHL is carrying 3 or more top-line centers, so I’m not harping on anyone in particular for not being able to step up and fill these shoes. But we need one of Compher or Larkin back soon, or else we’ll very quickly chew thru the small bank of points the team built up thru October and November.

It always feels weird to think about the Oilers and any player other than McDavid… but this Oilers team is only going to go as far as their goaltending will take them. Ken Holland is going to have to make a move ahead of the trade deadline, and despite not looking great I still wonder if Reimer as a veteran presence could be their answer to steadying the goalie position.
