The team has floated a few promotions to lure fans, such as the #MyHockeytown Valentine’s Day Sale, offering a “buy one get one deal” on tickets to all remaining home games.

The only way to consistently fill the arena, though, is by offering a better product — the team must improve to capture the interest of fans again. The only way that will happen, Yzerman said, is by picking up young talent.

Robby Fabbri was on the ice for the morning skate but he’s uncertain whether he’ll play against the Sabres. He departed early in the 3-1 upset of Boston on Sunday when he took a hit to the jaw while getting checked. He didn’t sustain a head injury but the jaw is still sore.
