Red Wings Rumblings

Settling for a Point

I’m still pissed off about last night’s loss in Boston. The officiating was a complete joke — whether it was a missed call in OT that immediately led to the game-winning goal, or a cheap shot by Zadorov into Raymond’s numbers after the whistle that never got called. Just an overall terrible game for some of the worst referees in all of pro sports. [deep breath]

I feel better now. I know that no one wants to hear this — but at least the Red Wings managed to get a point, and we continue to see Lucas Raymond ascend into greatness. I just don’t know how anyone can expect this team to win, or at least play consistently, when there are a number of liabilities on this roster. It is what it is.

Meanwhile overseas, in some more encouraging news; Dmitry Buchelnikov topped the KHL’s U23 player rating for the month of November.

Buch is playing at nearly a point-per-game clip, with 29 points (8-21–29) in 31 games. When will this guy make it to North America? Probably not for a couple more years. Here’s a loosely-translated quote from Buchelnikov recently, where he says “I would like it sooner, but not very soon” in response to a question about his NHL dream.

And adding to that, Axel Sandin-Pellikka will play for Sweden at the 2025 World Juniors. And even cooler — ASP will be captain of his team.

Cossa Soaking Up His First NHL Call-Up

Sebastian Cossa is with the big club for now, as Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon nurse injuries. There’s a chance the big guy gets his first NHL start this week, just depends. Sure sounds like he’s in line for it, though. I don’t think Talbot or Lyon will be ready to play this week.

Hronek Out Eight Weeks

Tough break for the former Red Wing, but at least he got his paycheck.

4 Nations Face-Off

The NHL is going all in on hyping this tournament up now. We’ll know the final rosters soon enough. I don’t really care in all honestly, but maybe you do.
