Red Wings Activate David Perron from IR

Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Red Wings are getting some much-needed help. The team announced before Saturday night’s game in Dallas that forward David Perron has been activated from injured reserve. He is active, and will play on the 2nd line with Marco Kasper and Lucas Raymond.

Perron, who was just acquired from the Ottawa Senators for a conditional draft pick, returns to his former team as they’re dealing with a serious rash of injuries. Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp are out, and the latest to go down with an injury is Michael Rasmussen. It’s worth mentioning that Copp has been skating. Also worth mentioning that McLellan said he would be reevaluated in two weeks, along with Larkin. Who knows.

The Red Wings have made a handful of roster moves in recent days, including some call-ups from Grand Rapids. They need all the help they can get right now. March is as unforgiving as it has been the last few years.

Not sure what Perron is going to look like after missing extended time, but he sure will be a sight for sore eyes.
