The Red Wings claimed forward Dmytro Timashov off waivers Monday afternoon, Chris Johnston and multiple other outlets confirm.
Detroit claims Dmytro Timashov off waivers from Toronto.

Detroit had the first chance at him because of their record. When he was placed on waivers yesterday, the general consensus was that he would be claimed by someone.
This fits the M.O. for Steve Yzerman, both in Detroit so far and before that in Tampa Bay. Timashov was drafted in the 5th round in 2015. The forward had a breakout year in the AHL last season, scoring 14 goals and 35 assists in 52 games, adding another 10 points in 13 games in the AHL playoffs.
He scored 4 goals and 5 assists in 39 games this year for the Maple Leafs. It’s another move for Yzerman that costs nothing but a roster spot. They’re not all going to hit, but even just a few successes could make a huge difference.
