Red Wings Lose Veteran Defenseman Niklas Kronwall 2-4 Weeks with Knee Injury
DETROIT, MICH -- After not appearing at the Toast to Hockeytown last night, and practice this morning Red Wings beat writers have revealed that defenseman Niklas Kronwall will be sidelined for up to a month with a knee injury:
Kronwall out 2-4 weeks. Had knee scoped— Ansar Khan (@AnsarKhanMLive) January 19, 2016
This opens up a spot for Alexey Marchenko to play, and as of right now, there has not been any news on if they will call up another player or not. Important to note that Marchenko's waiver status will be changed here in the next month if he is to be playing more. The Wings might play the waiver game and send him back to Grand Rapids to preserve his ability to be eligible for the playoffs with the Griffins. In turn, they could call up a player like Nick Jensen or Xavier Ouellet.
In other news, Khan reported a big update on the Drew Miller front. Not good:
