Lightning Blog: Raw Charge

The Red Wings continue their little jaunt through the Atlantic Division with another match up against the Lightning. The Wings were victorious in the first meeting between these two teams, earning a 3-1 victory in the third game of the season.

The Lightning come to town having won their last game, a 4-3 win over the Hurricanes, but they’ve struggled at the start of the season. Their win over Carolina snapped a 4-game losing streak that saw them shutout in back-to-back games and lose to the Avalanche. The reason for the Bolts’ struggles are similar to the Wings: they are having a lot of problems scoring goals.

For all of the issues that the Red Wings have had this season, they only sit 3 points behind Tampa for 2nd in the Atlantic Division. The Wings are coming off a win of their own on Saturday night, and will be looking to build some momentum off of what was their best performance since beating these Lightning.

The Red Wings aren’t likely to see too many changes to their lineup from Saturday, although it’s possible that Tomas Jurco could potentially draw in based on lines from yesterday’s practice. The injured players are still not available, although Mike Green could be ready for the weekend.
