Red Wings place multiple players on waivers, including Evgeny Svechnikov
Ahead of the start to the 2020-2021 regular season, NHL teams made a slew of waiver moves, Red Wings included. Detroit has placed a handful of players on waivers, including 2015 1st round pick Evgeny Svechnikov:
Among Detroit players on waivers: Boyle, Pickard, Tugeron, McIlrath, Lashoff, Hicketts, Elson, Criscuolo, Barber... and Svechnikov

Svechnikov has been grappling with injuries, so not exactly surprising that he is unexpected to make the opening night roster, though it’s a bummer that he won’t get to face his brother Andrei.. They’ll have plenty of other chances during this shortened season. It’s unclear if Svechnikov would garner any interest from teams on the waiver wire, I wouldn’t be shocked if a team took him.
Here’s the full list of waivers from Monday, it’s a long one:

Jacob De La Rose is on waivers, so hey, good job with the Fabbri trade!
Among the names on that very-long list is Calgary defenseman Oliver Kylington. The 23-year-old Swede was a 2nd-round pick in 2015 hasn’t had a ton of success in terms of NHL point production, but he could be a very interesting low-risk player to claim.
The Red Wings will kickoff the regular season Thursday, January 14th against the Carolina Hurricanes. Puckdrop is scheduled for 7:30pm ET at Little Caesars Arena.
