Red Wings Recall Trio from Grand Rapids

Here comes the cavalry… or something like that.

The Red Wings are down bad, man. No other way to put it. Not only did they piss away a very important two points in an epic collapse against the Florida Panthers Tuesday night (90 seconds of absolute hell), the team is now down their top two centers. Both Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp are sidelined with lower-body injuries, and who the hell knows when either of them will return this season, if at all. You would expect to see some names like Nate Danielson or Amadeus Lombardi get the callup, but no. They’re injured, too. So Sheldon Dries, John Leonard, and Eduards Tralmaks have all been recalled from Grand Rapids under emergency conditions.

According to head coach Todd McLellan, Copp is doubtful for Thursday and Dylan Larkin is doubtful for the remainder of the week.

I’m not going to get into the game against Florida, or the fact that the team is poised to fulfill their “annual” collapse in the month of March. Why? Well, because there’s still time left (17 games to be exact). But my friends, the outlook is quite grim at the moment. The schedule ahead is unforgiving, starting with Tampa Bay Thursday night and then Dallas Saturday. If they can’t right the ship quickly, their chances of going to the playoffs for the first time since Henrik Zetterberg was in the NHL will go up in smoke. Again.
