With 36 players still on the roster and a game tonight, the Wings will still have additional cuts to make, but Zadina and Kaski going down are interesting developments lending some clarity to the positional battles won/lost.

When you add this to the list of players who went on waivers today, you get even more:

Dylan McIlRath
Dominic Turgeon
Matt Puempel
Joe Hicketts
Calvin Pickard
Brian Lashoff
Turner Elson
Chris Terry

Cut those eight off the roster either by assignment or claim (it’ll be assignment; I don’t expect any claims).  That leaves just five players to get gone. One will be goalie Filip Larsson. Another likelihood is that Chase Pearson is gone tomorrow. Jonathan Ericsson looks like he could hit LTIR before rosters are finalized as well. Jared McIsaac still being on the roster is also injury-related, so it appears right now as though Michael Rasmussen and Moritz Seider could potentially start the season in Detroit.

Of course, this could all change on Sunday, but that’s the fun of camp ending!
