Steve Yzerman has been busy to start the week that training camp starts. The negotiations with Lucas Raymond are done, and the star forward will be here to stay for the next eight years.
The Red Wings lock up their franchise winger at just slightly over $8 million per year. According to Pierre LeBrun, this is a flat-salary deal meaning no signing bonuses. In addition to that detail is a 10-team no-trade clause that will kick in after four years. We’ll wait and see if we can get some more context to that.
Raymond’s new deal comes just hours after the Red Wings announced they re-signed Jonatan Berggren to a one-year deal. That means two out of three RFAs have been signed and will be ready for camp and the regular season. Moritz Seider is the remaining piece of business to tie up. Steve Yzerman has just north of $8.7 million to work with. I’d expect an announcement on that deal before or shortly after training camp starts on Thursday.
Now…. DO THE LUCAS RAYMOND TWEET!!!
