Red Wings Sign Tomas Tatar to a Three-Year Deal

Hey news!

…and it’s good!

Tatar is the second-to-last RFA to sign for the Red Wings and definitely one of the two most-important ones. TSN’s winner for Play of the Year put up 39 points in 73 games last season on what was generally known as the Kid Line. One of the more-impressive parts of Tatar’s game this past season was his dogged determination on the puck. Tatar isn’t known as a big guy or particularly stinging hitter, but he spent a good deal of time throwing his body around to make space for his great hands. There were times last season (such as the goal on TSN’s site linked above) where you simply knew he wasn’t going to be denied.

We’ll post details of the deal as soon as they hit the Twitterwaves, but it’s important to note that this deal will expire with Tatar as a restricted free agent.
