Red Wings sign Valtteri Filppula to two-year deal
A familiar face returns.
The Red Wings are bringing back a very familiar face — the team announced Monday shortly after the free agency period opened that they’ve signed forward Valtteri Filppula to a two-year deal:

Ansar Khan reports the deal is worth $6 million, or $3 million AAV.
Most of us know what we’re getting in Flip (remember that old name?), he’s a serviceable bottom-six player who can chip in offensively here and there. He’s had a decent couple of seasons with Philadelphia, and NYI. This signing makes a lot of sense, Steve Yzerman had Filppula in Tampa for a handful of years before moving onto the Flyers.
The 35-year-old was drafted by Ken Holland back in the 3rd round of the 2002 Draft. He won a Stanley Cup with the Wings in 2008.
How do you feel about the return of Flip?
