We made it, folks.
The Red Wings will get their 2025-26 campaign underway tonight at Little Caesars Arena with a divisional matchup against Montreal. There’s a lot of excitement heading into this season because the Wings are starting this 82-game journey with a jolt of young talent.
Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Emmitt Finnie, and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard are included on the roster, and all three are expected to make their NHL debut tonight. What a time to be alive. Here’s how the lines are looking for Detroit as of this afternoon:
Finnie-Larkin-Raymond
DeBrincat-Kasper-Kane
Copp-Compher-Brandsegg-Nygard
Soderblom-Rasmussen-Appleton
Chiarot-Seider
Edvinsson-Sandin-Pellikka
Johansson-Hamonic
Gibson
I had the chance to get on the horn with Jared from Eyes On The Prize this week to do a little preview of tonight’s game, and the latest in Red Wings world. If you’re into the podcast thing and have a spare 30 minutes, listen to it here. Been a while since I’ve done one of these, so please forgive me if I sound like a doofus. 🙂
I wanted to take a little time before things got underway to extend my gratitude to everyone who sticks around WIIM, whether you’re reading, commenting, or both. This has not been an easy trek as an independent media source. It still isn’t, honestly. In an effort to not lose my mind over 82 games, I am making the decision to alter how games are covered here. You’ll still see some previews and recaps here and there, but committing to that 82 times a season is just, well, it’s a lot. So, that being said, I am going to try a “weekly update/recap” approach that sort of aggregates what happened when the Red Wings were in action throughout the week.
You’ll still get updates and news as they come, but the game day noise will be just a little quieter. We’ll see how it goes. Again, I appreciate your support. Now, let’s get this show on the road. LET’S GO RED WINGS!
