Keys to the Game
Key One: Start Off Strong
The Devils traded a forward and a defenseman as well yesterday. Both teams will be adjusting to not having those players in the lineup, although Detroit also played last game without Green and Athanasiou, so maybe they have a head start? Regardless, they need to come out strong.
Key Two: No Second Period Collapse
Detroit’s team has a very bad habit of falling apart in a short period of time in the second period. While NJ is not doing very well this season, they have some offensive firepower, and they can take advantage of any lapses.
Key Three: Let’s Get Physical
Detroit has played well this season in stretches when the team has played more physically. That doesn’t mean fighting or taking bad penalties. Forecheck aggressively and finish checks.
