Oilers Blog: Copper & Blue

The Detroit Red Wings are in the midst of a four game winless streak. This includes three straight games without points at home. The Wings look to turn things around tonight against the Edmonton Oilers who are coming into town after a 4-3 shootout win last night in Brooklyn.

The beat writers were reporting on Saturday that Jimmy Howard will get the start against the Oilers. Luke Glendening and Niklas Kronwall did not practice, but both seem to be available for tonight’s game. There could be some lineup changes announced in the next few hours so stay tuned for updates.

For Edmonton, Zack Kassian and Jesse Puljujarvi were hurt last night and both left the game early, so their statuses are still up in the air. A replacement option would be Anton Slepyshev. If both are injured it is very possible they bring up someone from the AHL. Cam Talbot started last night in Brooklyn. He has started all 11 games this season for Edmonton, so it is very possible he gets the nod on back-to-back nights. Former Red Wing Jonas Gustavsson has only seen 11 minutes of action this season.
