Keys to the Game
Don’t Get Hurt:
The worst result from tonight’s game would be a player who may be traded, like Mike Green, getting hurt. I still think my sumo suit idea from the Morning Skate is the safest play, but I’m being told that’s not going to happen.
Let’s Have Fun Out There:
Even though the team has known they weren’t going to make the playoffs for a while now, it’s another thing to know that you are officially eliminated. In my opinion, Detroit’s players have looked like they were afraid to make a mistake for long stretches of time recently. I’m certainly not saying players shouldn’t care about winning or losing, but Detroit plays best when they are looking for the good play, not deferring to the safe play all the time.
Give our Zamboni Driver a Chance in Goal
Detroit has been looking for the next option in goal, and maybe the solution has been right under its nose the whole time! Last night, Carolina beat Toronto, with the Marlies’ zamboni driver playing over a period in net. We’re out of the playoffs, let’s go crazy.
