Players to Watch

For Detroit: Tomas Jurco

Jeff Blashill answered pretty frankly the other day about why Jurco hasn’t been in the lineup. Blashill wasn’t satisfied with the way Jurco was skating – he felt he was capable of more. Jurco strikes me as a competitive kid, and tonight will be a big test to see if he responds the way Blashill and the fanbase as a whole is hoping. With Richards, Franzen, and Datsyuk all still out of the lineup for at least a couple weeks, the opportunity is there for Jurco to grab a prime spot in the lineup. It’s up to him to do the rest.

For Carolina: Cam Ward

Goaltending has been a constant problem for Carolina the past few years, and it’s made them turn in worse results than they’re capable of. We’ve seen in the two games against Carolina that they’re very capable of controlling play, and yet Detroit still won game 2 on the back of 4 goals on just 19 shots on Cam Ward.

Key Match-up

Red Wings vs Starting on Time

Will the Red Wings look like the better team in the first 10 minutes? That’s been a rarity so far this season, and once the ice is tilted against you it’s hard to tilt it back. This is Detroit’s first game back from a west coast trip which occasionally provides trouble early on, and they can’t afford to keep playing from behind and without the puck.

Let’s Go Red Wings!!
