The #RedWings today assigned goaltender Calvin Pickard to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins and removed goaltender Jonathan Bernier from injured reserve.

On this day in 1959, Gordie Howe and Lou Fontinato got into a memorable dust up. Fontinato got the worst of it, leaving the skirmish with a broken nose. Howe later said, “that honker of his was right there, and I drilled it.” #Hockey365 #LGRW #PlayLikeANewYorker pic.twitter.com/IdpMLfo7rN

“I drilled his honker” still has the same potential meaning today as it did 61 years ago, but I feel the meaning might not be immediately clear if you said that now.
At any rate, we’ve got nothing out of the Wings’ locker room from today. We’ll keep you posted if something pops up but until then we’re assuming no lineup changes from last night.
