Keys to the Game

1. Keep the Pace High

The Sabres are coming off of a game yesterday against Vancouver, providing the Red Wings an extra day of rest. Detroit needs to use to their advantage by keeping the tempo of the game and hopefully forcing Buffalo to burn out late in periods and the end of the game. It’s not often the Red Wings look to employ this strategy as they usually don’t have the talent to go toe to toe with most teams. Keep an eye for it today to see if there’s more action than usual.

2. Larkin Needs to Continue His Hot Streak

Larkin is riding a five game point streak and has put up seven points (3G, 4A) in his past seven games. This is the the production the team needs from him to be competitive, especially with Mantha and Athanasiou out of the lineup. Larkin continues to build his resume as a two-way player. But unfortunately without much support behind his line he’ll have to do it all to give the Red Wings a chance in most games. Look for Larkin to carry his team in this one.

3. Win It For the Kids

It’s a big promotional day at Little Caesar’s Arena for tonight’s game. It’s Kids Day at the LCA. The event features lots of activities for kids and the event is geared towards sparking the next generation of Wing Nuts. So the least the team could do is create a lasting memory for their young impressionable minds but giving them a big entertaining win.
