Keys to the Game
Tank vs. Tank
Whoever loses this game wins the 28th place in the NHL standings while the winner of the game could rise as high as 26th depending on the Rangers. Correct my math draft watchers, but I believe 28th place has a 9.5% chance of picking 1st and 27th has an 8.5% chance of picking first so this game actually does matter.
The Reign of Larkin the Infallible
It’s almost certain that Dylan Larkin will be awarded the C for next season and many more, bringing us officially into the new era of Red Wings hockey and out of this in-between phase. I have a secret fantasy where he hops onto the ice with the C on his sweater tonight like ‘oh hey I’m the captain now nbd’ but I also know how we all will lose our freaking minds during player intros at the home opener in October.
Even Hello Kitty Said Goodbye to You
Who is playing their last game as a Wing? It’s easy to dream about, but hard to know. Blash and Kenny seem to be locked in for at least another season, signs point to Kronner giving it one more go but we desperately need to dump some defensemen to make room for Hronek and Friends, Vanek, Witter, and Frk could all be spare parts, and many more scenarios we’ll discuss throughout the offseason.
If it’s Kronwall, I will cry and you will shut up and let me or I will tell Zetterberg on you.
