NHL Centennial Classic
The Red Wings will be taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Centennial Classic next season, and NBC will be broadcasting:
NBC will present exclusive coverage of the NHL Centennial Classic and NHL Stadium Series. The NHL Centennial Classic will feature the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs at BMO Field in Toronto on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. ET on NBC. The NHL Centennial Classic will kick off a year-long Centennial celebration in 2017, as the league will highlight its 100th year with numerous events that will commemorate a century of NHL hockey.
As always, all games broadcasted on NBC or NBCSN will be available on NBC's streaming service. NBC Live Extra. If you have a cable provider login (usually provided or setup through your cable company), you can stream these games from your computer or mobile device.
If you notice one thing, the Edmonton Oilers do not have a broadcast on NBC for the 2016-17 season. That means Connor McDavid, a generational talent, will get no face-time with NBC viewers.
Last season, the Red Wings appeared in 16 NBC/NBCSN broadcasts (14 times on NBCSN, 2 times on NBC) , so they're down from that. What does that mean? It means you won't have to watch as many games with the NBC crew! Keep note, though, these 14 games will be blacked out. Plan accordingly!
