Red Wings will raise Stanley this week. No, really!

The Red Wings didn’t get a crack at raising the Stanley Cup this past season, but you’ll be able to see them do it later this week regardless.

The NHL Network is continuing its series “Raising the Cup,” and will showcase three games from the Red Wings’ trips to the Finals in the 1990s.

Hardcore fans may want to stray away from the first Red Wings sighting. Tomorrow the festivities will kick off with Game 4 of the 1995 Finals, which the New Jersey Devils completed a four game sweep of the Red Wings for their first Cup.

The viewing gets a lot better on Wednesday. Darren McCarty‘s thrilling Game 4 winner in the 1997 Finals takes center stage, which propelled the Wings to their first Cup in 42 seasons. Then on Thursday you can witness the incredible moment of Vladimir Konstantinov recieving the Cup in his wheelchair when the network airs Game 4 of the 1998 Finals.

For me, this is a great opportunity because I was unable to watch the games live when they happened. I grew up in a rural area without cable, so my memories of those games are only the near-girlish squealing of Ken Kal proclaiming the Red Wings champions of 1997 and 1998 on the radio.

All the shows start at 8 p.m. EST on the NHL Network. The channel can be found on DISH Network ch. 403 and DirecTV ch. 215, as well as most cable systems (check your local listings).
