Report: Almquist to the KHL
Overnight word from Russia says it's a two-year deal.
Well, there you have it:
Detroit Red Wings defense prospect Adam Almquist will play for the Kontinental Hockey League's Severestal Cherepovets, according to a report by Russia's rsport.ru.

Michelle did a write-up three weeks ago talking about Almquist and the organization's (lack of) plans for him and his potentially leaving for his old Swedish team, HV-71. Turns out he'll be headed for Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL.
There's no confirmation as of this writing that the Red Wings ever did give Almquist a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, so it's uncertain if this is Almquist just leaving the organization for a better opportunity or if this was a mutual parting of ways where the Red Wings will no longer retain his rights if Almquist decides to return to the NHL. It may ultimately become a moot point.
The GriffWings are gonna miss you, Adam.
[update in regards to QO and retaining his rights]
#RedWings aware prospect D Adam Almquist reportedly signed with KHL Severestal Cherepovets. DET retains his right via qualifying offer.
