Watch Dominic Turgeon Tie, Then Break His Career Goal Record

This year the Red Wings wanted Dominic Turgeon to find more offense in his game, in addition to his stellar defensive and all around play. Well, the Red Wings asked and Turgeon has delivered. Sunday night against the Spokane Chiefs, the Red Wings 2014 3rd round pick scored his 18th goal of the season, a power play tally to tie his career season high in goals.

Turgeon carries the puck into the zone, provides puck support behind the net, then gets back out front and drives the net, beautifully tipping in Rodrigo Abols’ shot.

But tying his career high in goals wasn’t enough for young Dom. He also set his new career high on a sick shorthanded goal, his 2nd shorty of the season.

He was stopped on the first shorthanded shot, but on the next defensive zone faceoff he stole the puck after a lost faceoff and burried this one behind Tyson Verhelst. Yeah, that’s our Dom.

Oh, and he also had an assist on the night for his 3rd 3 point game of the season. Turgeon now has 19 goals, 22 assists, and 41 points in 38 games; he only needs 3 more points to set a career high in points as well, and the season is only halfway done.

And this big night came after Saturday night when he had an assist and the game winning shootout goal.

I love watching Turgeon play, and I can’t wait until he’s in Grand Rapids.
