Hey everyone. It's been a while, but I can assure you that WIIM's absence will soon come to an end.

Since VOX Media cut SB Nation, there has been a lot of work behind the scenes to preserve what we've built not just here at WIIM, but SB Nation NHL as a whole. I'm excited to be a part of this opportunity to build a new network of sports-loving goobers. So, here's the scoop:

We're using a new platform.. So if you were on WIIM before, you'll need to sign up for a new membership. You'll notice that there are two options. One of them is totally free and will give you access to Red Wings news and game day coverage. The other is a paid subscription that will unlock exclusive content like analysis and other articles. This will be a $5 a month, or $50 for the year. I recognize this is different than what we have been in the past, but this is how we make things better for everyone.

All that being said, there will be changes to staffing. JJ is stepping away from the blogosphere, though you'll likely see him around in comments and on Twitter. There's no taking the burning love for Detroit Red Wings hockey away from him. So that means I will assume all managing roles for the time being. I'll be honest, I'm kind of nervous about it but the outpouring of support we got when VOX gave us the axe inspired me to push on. I love this and the community far too much to leave it behind. If I could do this fulltime, I would. Maybe one day I can, but for now it will be a part-time operation. That means I'm going to be looking for people who want to contribute. If you're interested, I encourage you to get in touch with me so we can chat.

So here's the plan: Obviously the season is coming to a close and the Wings aren't in the playoffs. I'd like to have everything at full-steam come the NHL Draft. So until then, content will be here and there. This article was really meant to just give everyone an update on where we stand. The website layout may be changing in the months ahead as I learn more about our new platform. What matters most to me is your opinion. This is your community, too. If you have suggestions, comments or concerns – please speak up! Let's build a bigger and better WIIM together.
