Keys to the Game
It looks like you’re trying to play defense, would you like some help with that?
Hronek is a good defenseman. We unfortunately have to also ice 5 other defensemen. It would be incredible if they could play defense. Perhaps that’s an unclear request, to expand that means preventing the puck from reaching our net and feeding passes to our forwards to support the rush.
Clean up your act
There was a lot of flailing and falling down and missed connections and whiffing during the game last night. There were also flashes of brilliance from the usual suspects, just need to get everyone on board to be both energetic but useful. Sometimes that includes shooting the puck, Filppula.
That very much includes killing penalties and not giving up shorthanded goals. In fact if you could just do those things that would be just lovely.
Pedal to the metal
The Wings played a “we’re trying real hard” 55 minutes of hockey last night. The energy tanked toward the end of the game, as it will do when you’re down 7-3. But overall, if you’re going to play bad, play bad with PIZZAZ! It didn’t feel as demoralizing as some other losses regardless of the numbers, it just felt like they tried but are actually fantastically bad and Carolina is a fast team who took advantage of the mistakes. The Panthers aren’t as electric as the Canes, so let’s turn the tables and force them to make mistakes and then capitalize. POSITIVITY VIBES!
Let’s Go Red Wings!
