2010 SB Nation Mock Draft Summary

I figure this would be a good little prep post for the draft that begins at 7 p.m. ET to sort of recap the network’s various draft picks for all of those interested in the prospects side. Once again, this is just a recap of the guesses at what each team will take. Check in later tonight for the real thing as Michael Petrella will be covering the Draft LIVE from the Staples Center in LA as a credentialed member of the media. Follow him on Twitter at @mpetrella.

I encourage all those interested in the NHL Draft to check out the exceptional player profiles the guys around the SBN network have been producing in anticipation of the draft.

1st Rd summary:

2nd round summary after the jump

In the 2nd round there were some surprises such as Kirill Kabanov falling into the 40th pick. Here’s who Petrella picked at 51 for the Red Wings:

51 – DET Johan Larsson, LW – Brynas Powerful player with a superior interior game. Likes contact and goes to the net hard. Good on the backcheck. Excellent defensively and doesn’t mind a battle. Above-average shot. Below average skating – when he’s not all out, he gets lost in traffic.

When I asked Petrella for the pick, he said Larsson because it fulfilled our need for more “Johan”s and more “Larsson”s and by default more Swedes.

Check on over at SB Nation for the rest of the 2nd round picks made by our staff of writers. The page has a quick note on each player as well as a link to their full-length player profile.
