The Red Wings officially put Brendan Smith on short term IR this morning. Short term IR requires that a player miss a minimum of 7 days and Smith has been projected to miss 1-2 weeks, so that fits pretty well.

Jordin Tootoo will play tonight in place of Samuelsson (returned to the Sammy Shithouse) and Eaves remains a healthy scratch (Damn it all).
Franzen will not play tonight and the Wings said they’re giving him an extra couple days to recover… from whatever it is that he’s recovering from.

It makes me kind of sad when players change the spelling of their names when they come to North America. It feels like they think they need to change it to “conform” or something. He’ll always be Almqvist to me. If Henrik Lundqvist can keep his Swedish spelling, then why not Almqvist?

Evander Kane missed practice yesterday and today and is a game time decision due to a “lower body”. Honestly, the guy should just be happy he even HAS a lower body.

Daniel Alfredsson…he’s a turncoat and nobody likes a turncoat.
Wow, a turncoat? Really? Yeah, if any player deserves to hear the boo birds, it’s that disgraceful player Alfredsson. I’m going to assume that what they meant was that the Wings are such a classy, respectable team, with such un-booable players (is that even a word?) that Alfredsson is the closes they could find. Whatever.
