The Wings have an opportunity to sweep the season series against the Devils as they finish off 2014, having won the first two games of the season. Last time these two squads met, Detroit had Petr Mrazek in and got the only shootout win of their season so far.
The Devils are 2-5-3 in their last ten. They’ve axed Pete DeBoer and decided to put three head coaches behind their bench and, surprisingly that’s worked out so far. Jersey knocked off the Penguins 3-1 the last time they played (which was on the same day the Wings were getting pasted by the Bruins).
All the blah blah blah bullshit about that loss is about how the effort level hasn’t been acceptable. It’s hard to argue that considering how sloppy the Wings have been for the last three weeks. I also can’t help but think that it has something to do with how poorly they get the puck out of their own zone. Fortunately, they’ve got Jakub Kindl on IR now and will have Xavier Ouellet in the lineup. Hopefully he’ll make a difference.
Have fun in the comments and let’s go Red Wings.
