Last night, the Detroit Red Wings snagged a 1-0 series lead with a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Just 24 hours later the two teams face off again at Joe Louis Arena for what should be another exciting game.
As WIM reported earlier today, Kris Draper and Pavel Datsyuk will not play today due to their respective injuries. Detroit showed they were able to beat the Penguins without those two players. Amazingly, the Wings had a faceoff win percentage of 71 last night without Drapes and Dats — their top two faceoff guys.
Questions to ask today:
- After a great performance from goaltender Chris Osgood (outside of the one PIT goal), can he do it again tonight?
- Will Henrik Zetterberg, Nick Lidstrom, and Brian Rafalski be able to keep Sidney Crosby off the board again?
- How will the teams play with a mere 24 hours between puck drops? Will they have enough energy to have a similar style of play like yesterday’s contest?/
You can catch the game on NBC (U.S.) as well as CBC and RDS (Canada) for tonight’s game at 8 p.m. EDT. Go Wings!
