The Detroit Red Wings look to bounce back tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers after a very, very, very disappointing Friday night match-up against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Philly pushed their 7-game winning streak against the Dallas Stars last night and managed to extend the streak to 8 games with some last-minute heroics, but that won’t mean tonight’s game is already in the bag with the visiting team coming into town tired and emotionally drained. The Flyers hold a 17-10-3 record, good for 37 points – 8 more than our boys in red currently hold at their 13-12-3 mark. They play a particularly physical brand of hockey, with blue-line tough guy Radko Gudas willing to hit anything that moves (he’s 4th in the NHL right now with 87 hits on the season) and scoring winger Wayne Simmonds who is just as good at rearranging your face as he is at creating goals. 3 Flyers have over 25 points on the season – Jakub Voracek (32), Claude Giroux (29), and the aforementioned Simmonds (27). Henrik Zetterberg currently leads our team with a mere 20 points. It will be all hands on-deck for the Wings defense if they hope to contain the Philly offense and help our team get back to its winning ways.
