Quick Hits: Crosby Can’t Crack Ceiling; Nyquist’s Naughtiness Noticed

Crosby has apparently left the scoresheet for a few games and sits just shy of the 1,000 point plateau.  I don’t think anyone here in Detroit is crying about that given our history with the Pens, but we are mentioned prominently in this piece as an appropriate opponent for Sid to notch the milestone marker against.  Personally, I’d prefer he have to wait a few more games even beyond our Feb. 19th meeting to hit the career mark.

Red Wings’ Gustav Nyquist Has Hearing With NHL for High-Sticking Incident | Brendan Savage, Mlive.com

If you haven’t checked it out yet, Peter posted about the incident yesterday.  There’s another video of it in the Mlive article, as well as the post-game interview with Nyquist.  Of course he’s getting the benefit of the doubt from Blashill and his teammates, but even if it was an accident it was a dangerous play.  Expect to hear quickly about Nyquist’s fate later today.  On the plus side, as Nyquist mentions in the interview, Jared Spurgeon wasn’t seriously injured.

Following Friday’s terrible news, we now have information on a public visitation for Mike Ilitch should anyone wish to attend.  Our condolences, sympathies, thoughts, and prayers continue to go out to the Ilitch family.
