Quick Hits: The Absent Athanasiou Edition

In Red Wings Land

Andreas Athanasiou’s absence hits Red Wings at critical juncture | The Detroit News

Detroit — The injury list keeps getting longer for the Red Wings, and that’s never a good formula for any sort of success.

The Wings found out before the game Saturday — which turned into a 2-1 loss against Florida — they’d be without forward Andreas Athanasiou, which was termed an upper body injury.

Athanasiou took warm-ups but didn’t feel capable of playing.

This is not an ideal situation. Anthony Mantha and Mike Green are already injured and when you add AA to the mix it really hurts the team’s offensive production. It doesn’t sound like Jeff Blashill is very optimistic that Athanasiou will be ready to go tonight against the Maple Leafs.
