We have the official announcement from the Red Wings regarding the Prospect Tournament and Training Camp. The Prospect Tourney is actually about a day shorter than usual, owing to only 4 teams participating this year when there’s usually about 6 or so. Training camp will take us right up to the pre-season.

Junior-league fighting ban another step closer to NHL also eliminating it
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, one of three major junior NHL feeder circuits positioned a notch below professional hockey, announced it had effectively banned fighting altogether.
I’ll be honest… I don’t care if the NHL eliminates fighting. I don’t think it influences the game as much as people think it does unless someone gets injured, and I’d rather see things settled with hockey skill than fist skill. But I will add one caveat – if fighting goes, the refs have to get about 7 orders of magnitude better at their jobs than what they are now.
