Senators’ Hoffman suspended two games for cross-check to head | by Andrew Bottomley, Sportsnet.ca
We have been talking about how the league needs to crack down more on cheap shots. This is a pretty clear example of a really dumb play. Mike Hoffman tried to exact revenge for an earlier dirty play by Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
Now, I completely understand why he was upset, but this is ridiculous.
If you skipped past the Vlasic hit, you really need to go watch that because Vlasic should have been suspended as well. I understand how the referees may have missed it, but the league should have caught it after the game.
But wait, that’s not the only suspension handed out. Dallas’ Cody Eakin was suspended four games for hitting Henrik Lundqvist.
At first, I thought this was a bad call, but for me the damning aspect is that Eakin accelerates up into Lundqvist’s head.
As a former Islanders fan, I have to point out that this was far from the worst hit to a goalie’s head that I’ve seen. That would have to be…..this:

Yesterday’s Quick Hits was a promo for the Epix series about the lead-up to the two outdoor games around New Year’s Day.
Here’s a clip from after the Coyotes game. Unfortunately, if you watched the Kings game, it didn’t really work. Maybe tonight?
