Kings Blog: Jewels From The Crown
There is no rest for the weary (both the players and the fans) as the Red Wings are right back it again tonight as they make the very short trip from Anaheim to Los Angeles for stage two of the annual Tour De California to take on the Kings.
The Kings are having a bit of an up and down season, sitting currently fourth in the Pacific division, and are battling slow starts by key players as well as losing Jonathan Quick for a large chunk of the season to injury. One player who has been hot for the Kings this season is Jeff Carter. He is pacing them with 21 goals, 11 more than anyone else on the team. Despite issues scoring goals, the Kings continue to be the best shot suppression team in the league as their physical, aggressive style makes it difficult for teams to take advantage of their weakened goalie situation.
Points are at a major premium for the Red Wings right now and in the past few seasons this has been the kind of game that they found a way to steal at least one point. If they have any hopes of getting back into the playoff picture they are going to have to do that again tonight.
