Let’s pretend March never happened and start fresh. The playoff dream is still more alive now than it’s been in years. The Wings need to drag some points home kicking and screaming. It ain’t over ’til the stats lady sings.

How’s it going for the Bolts? GOOD! They went 9-1-1 in March and got themselves in pretty good shape for the playoffs. They hold the top wildcard spot in the East with a 7-point and two-game cushion over the Flyers. They can’t catch the Leafs tonight for the third Atlantic spot but they can get within a game and they conveniently play the Leafs on Wednesday.
How’s it going for the Wings? Not great! They’ve been losing “must-win” games and tonight is another one. Or at least a must-at-least-lose-in-overtime game. Not being able to score on the OT powerplay against the Panthers last game wasn’t the final coffin nail, but it wasn’t not a coffin nail either. However, despite their poor efforts, the Wings are only 2 points behind the Flyers for the second wildcard (we are Islanders fans tonight). The streakiness of the wins and losses has made the situation feel worse than it actually is.
Can you believe the Wings are 3-5-2 in our last 10 games and not 0-9-1 by the way many of us are acting? Just ignore that long losing streak the 10 games before…
