Preds Blog: On The Forecheck

Why to Watch: Actual standings intrigue!

This will be the third series of the season against Nashville, after the teams each had a homestand against another in February. Both times Nashville won the first meeting and both times Detroit won the rematch.  If you’re counting on goal aggregate, the Wings have an 11-9 advantage. If you’re magically adding context, I suppose you can say it’s about even because Nashville has one win in a shutout.

Regardless, this season series has been about as close as I expected Detroit/Chicago to be this season. That’s bad news for Nashville, who boasts an identical 4-5-1 record in the last ten games as the Wings. While the Wings’ run has the fanbase generally positive about the team’s direction without worrying too much about a fruitless run hurting draft position, the Preds’ fanbase is starting to mumble about “getting healthy” and “still being in it.”

So I ask, who suffers more here? The downtrodden or the hopeful?

Detroit practiced yesterday with lines/pairings that looked just like Saturday’s loss against Dallas. I don’t expect lineup changes from that one, but we’ll have more in Gameday Updates this afternoon.
