Tonight, the puck drops at 7:00pm EDT as the Wings visit Washington, D.C. in a pre-season test against Ovechkin and the Capitals. At least, we EXPECT the Caps to be led by Ovechkin. It’s the pre-season, they may want to rest him before another big season chasing Gretzky’s goals record.
For the Wings, tonight is absolutely about jockeying for position. Nobody on tonight’s roster is a top line/top pair/starter, but I can see arguments for several of these guys to be just below that status. Conversely, I can also see arguments for the same guys being healthy scratched or sent down. The biggest battle on tonight’s ice will be internal instead of against the opponent.
According to the Red Wings’ own preview for tonight’s tilt, anyone can watch as the game will be streamed online. So watch, comment, and have fun!
