Preseason Game Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs at Detroit Red Wings

Where: Joe Louis Arena- Detroit, MI

When: 7:30 PM

How: This game will not be televised by Detroit, but according the Wings’ web site, we should be able to listen to it on CBS Sports Radio. In Toronto, the game will be aired live on Leafs TV and broadcast on TSN1050 Radio.

The Wings finish off the preseason with back to back games against the grammatically incorrect Toronto Maple Leaves Leafs. These two teams have a rich history and once heated rivalry, but since the realignment in 1998 that saw these two teams split into different divisions and conferences, the Wings and Leafs have only played each other a total of 22 times. With the Wings moving back to the Eastern Conference this season, and these two teams playing each other in the Winter Classic (for real this time), their rivalry is sure to be rekindled.

Cody Franson will play in his first game since signing his new 1 year, 2M deal with the Leafs.

Daniel Alfredsson will play his first home game as a Red Wing, and his first game since September 17th.

We’ll finally get to see Franzen, Weiss, and Alfredsson play together in a game. Hopefully they can develop some chemistry together and score some goals. Jimmy Howard is slated to play the entire game.
