Quick Hits around the NHL – March 29 Edition

  • As I wrote on Friday night, the Wings lost 2-0 to the NY Islanders. Former Wing goaltender Joey MacDonald earned his first career shutout in the win.
  • According to George Sipple at the Detroit Free Press, defenseman Andreas Lilja is still dealing with headaches and will see a new doctor on Monday.
  • The Wings are still trying to make a deal with Marian Hossa and Johan Franzen. The negotiations will be put on hold once it’s playoff time, but it would certainly be nice to re-sign at least one of them before the postseason. However if neither is signed, it doesn’t mean GM Ken Holland won’t get it done in the offseason. It’s just not ideal.
  • Ansar Khan at MLive.com has a piece on Brian Rafalski’s scoring surge.
Puck Daddy has a great look at the teams duking it out for the last few spots in the Western Conference.
  • My Wolverines were upset in the first round of the NCAA hockey tournament on Friday afternoon in a 2-0 loss to Air Force. The Blog That Yost Built has more on the game. /
