Apologies if this is already out there, but Detroit’s Marco Kasper told me that if he doesn’t make the Wings out of camp, he’ll go to AHL Grand Rapids

While this was assumed by many, I’m not sure anything official was out there prior to Ryan Kennedy’s tweet (if they’re still called tweets). I like this for his development more than another year in the SHL. Hopefully, with Kasper just across the state instead of across The Pond, we’ll see him more than just once this season.

Hockey fans already know the name, but this is not the blog. From Sportsnet, 32 Thoughts: The Podcast with Jeff Marek and NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman is a weekly deep dive into the biggest news and interviews from the hockey world.

I hope this is the last time we’re talking about Filip Zadina in the capacity of “he’s an ex-Red Wing”, but I thought this installment of the 32 Thoughts podcast was worth bringing him up. While on the NHL’s European Press Tour, Marek and Friedman got to talk to Zadina while in Stockholm and he opened up about Detroit and his decision to leave. It sounds like a bit of bad luck and difficulty getting over that mindset that really contributed to the decision, and he’s not trying to throw any shade Detroit’s way, but give it a listen and see what you think. After this, I’ll still be rooting for him to fill nets with pucks (for 80 out of 82 games a year).
