In Red Wings Land

While injured Red Wings heal, Dominic Turgeon getting comfortable

There isn’t too much out there in Red Wings land, but here Blashill has some nice things to say about Dominic Turgeon.

“He’s grown up in this environment with his father,” Blashill said after Tuesday’s morning skate. “I’ve always felt he carries himself with a good, quiet confidence. He’s not awed by the NHL. He can walk in a locker room and feel totally confident. And having a bunch of guys that he’s played with makes that easier — and that’s an important part in call-ups, that guys get comfortable as quick as possible so they can play to the best of their ability.

NHL – Re-grading every team’s offseason ahead of 2017-18 season

Greg Wyshynski looks back at how each NHL team did in this past off-season. He has Detroit at C-, which I think it in the right ballpark, although I would go a little lower.

Seeing as how defensemen Trevor Daley and Luke Witkowski were the only acquisitions, and both have been in the C- range, that’s how they end up here. The contract standoff with Andreas Athanasiou clearly didn’t do anyone any favors, either.
