The Big Story
Anderson stars in emotional return; Sens blank Oilers – The Canadian Press | TSN
It’s a sad coincidence that news broke that Craig Anderson’s wife was diagnosed with cancer, with the Hockey Fights Cancer events recently. Alanis Morrissette tried to tell me it was ironic, but I no longer trust her judgment on such matters.
Anderson took personal leave to be with his wife during this trying time, then returned to shutout the Oilers led by Connor McDavid, who often appears to have the capabilities of an agent from The Matrix. Picture McDavid saying Mr. Anderson. Try it, it’s fun.
The Senators Mr. Anderson overcame McDavid’s Agent Smith and the rest of the Oilers. We wish him and his wife the best in her fight against cancer.

We updated you on this in the Game Updates post yesterday, but here’s some more information.
I can’t speak for everyone, but this is the main reason I was not happy when we signed Steve Ott. I have nothing against toughness or players who play with an edge (provided that’s not all they contribute). But, Ott has a reputation for things like this, and I don’t want someone who plays like this to wear our jersey.
His play was reckless and could have easily cost his teammates if he was ejected from the game (which he should have been) or suspended (which he should have been). And what benefit did it provide?
