Red Wings Rumblings
Max penned a recap of Saturday’s brutal loss against Florida with some perspective from players and coaches. This quote from Copp really struck a note for me:
“I think we lost our heads a little bit during some of those scrums,” Copp said. “You saw us get the extra (penalty) pretty much every time, and you can’t do that against a team like that. A team that’s going to kind of play outside the whistles a little bit and try and bait you into those types of things. And we’ve got to be prepared for that.”
Playoff hockey is a totally different type of game. Florida knows how to play it, and they exposed Detroit with that style of play. Hopefully this was a good learning lesson for the team as they push toward a playoff berth.
Edvinsson The Untouchable: Hockey News
Unsurprising here, but Tony Ferrari of The Hockey News has Simon Edvinsson as one of his untouchable prospects at the upcoming NHL trade deadline, which is this Friday.
The word is that the Wings are working to move a defenseman, but likely one of their depth players at the NHL level. I would assume that if they move one, Edvinsson would be in line for a promotion.
Griffins lose, but extend point streak
The Griffins are still pulling in points, and are just one game away from tying their franchise record of 19 straight games with a point.

Oilers Talking to ‘Numerous People’
The Oilers are expected to be active before the trade deadline. I wonder if Detroit has reached out about one of their available defensemen? Seems like that of Petry, Maatta, or Gostisbehere could be a nice fit there.
Kirill the Thrill
Minnesota superstar Kirill Kaprizov picked up his 300th career point last night with a hat-trick, becoming the fifth-fastest active NHL player to eclipse the milestone. He’s such a fun player to watch. Talk about underrated.
